Celebrating two decades of information, analysis and innovation, MCIC will host the MCIC Data Innovation Awards to honor groups and individuals committed to making data accessible, understandable and actionable in Chicago and the region. The awards will recognize the achievements of individuals, organizations, and/or agencies in three sectors – the non-profit community, government and independent or freelance groups/individuals.
Inspired by MCIC core values, award-winning projects will exemplify the following:
- The pursuit of responsible, actionable knowledge
- Elegant and dynamic design
- Contribution to quality of life
- Potential power and reach
Candidates for consideration will include Web applications, data visualizations and other data-based projects Three winners will be chosen by a panel of guest judges representing thought leaders in open data and the nonprofit community, including: John Tolva, Director, Citizenship & Technology at IBM; Dan Lyne, Business Development Director of World Business Chicago; Ken Pelletier, Chief Technical Officer of Groupon; Kara Kennedy, Executive Director of Lumity; Sharon Burns, Chief Information Officer of MacArthur and Adrian Holovaty, founder of Everyblock. Winners will be honored during the 20th Anniversary event September 15, 2010.
To submit your company for consideration, email your name, company and a brief description of your company’s core values and achievements to news@mcic.org prior to August 2, 2010. The recipients of the MCIC Data Innovation Awards will be notified Sunday, September 5.
